Snow expected in the coming days in Occitanie: the weather for the week changes suddenly

After two weeks of abnormally mild weather, winter weather returns to Occitania. In the coming days, snow is expected in the mountains and up to fairly low altitudes.

There may still be seasons. In the coming days, temperatures will drop suddenly in the region and snow is even expected, indicates Météo France. Good news for mountain tourism which suffered from a too mild winter. 

Friday: temperature drop

The weather will deteriorate in the coming days. From this Wednesday, wind and rain are forecast in Occitania, a situation which is expected to intensify tomorrow. Starting Friday, the mercury will drop and return to temperatures low enough to allow snowfall. 

It will be 0° C at Laguiole in Aveyron, 2° at Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via in the Pyrénées-Orientales and 3° C in Mende in Lozère. Elsewhere in the region, temperatures ranging from 8° C at 12° C in Montpellier, Toulouse or even Nîmes are expected. 

Saturday: first snowflakes

Temperatures will continue to drop this weekend. Saturday morning it will be up to –1° C in Aveyron and snowfall is expected from 700 meters where 3 to 5 centimeters are expected. Higher up, 5 to 10 centimeters could fall from 900 meters, 10 to 15 centimeters from 1,200 meters and up to 20 centimeters at 1,500 meters. 

Sunday: freezing weather

The generalization of bad weather in the region on Sunday could lead to significant snowfall. Precipitation is expected across the entire region and, with temperatures dropping further below 0° C in certain places, a more significant snow episode cannot be excluded.
