Sophie Fantasy case: 4 years in prison required against the YouTuber and her husband for “moral harassment and abuse of weakness”

Ce lundi 3 juin 2024, cinq ans de prison dont quatre ferme et 50 000 euros d’amende pour harcèlement moral et abus de faiblesse ont été requis en appel à Lyon contre les youtubeurs Sophie Fantasy et Greg Inside.

The couple Gaëlle Burlot and Gregory Thonet, known on social networks under the pseudonyms  "Sophie Fantasy" and "Gregory Inside", are the parents of YouTubers Néo and Swann.  Last week, they appeared in Lyon for "moral harassment and abuse of weakness" for their role in a matrimonial enterprise, reports Cnews.

Several complaints

Since 2010, several clients of the marriage company Eurochallenges have filed complaints, denouncing misleading advertisements, trips billed several times and backdated contracts. This agency was founded by Sophie Fantasy's mother-in-law.

During the first trial, the couple was tried with 9 other former employees for having defrauded 340 people. Disappointed with the judge's decision, the couple decided to appeal to the courts.

Five years in prison and 50,000 euros fine

Throughout the trial, the couple denied any responsibility with "simplistic arguments" having sometimes exasperated the president: " Two neurons do not make a nervous system" he replies. The prosecutor demanded 5 years in prison, 4 of which were closed and 50,000 euros fine each, he also accused the parents of " profit from their offspring" was referring to their children's YouTube channel.

For his part, Grégory Thonet's lawyer considers that a marriage agency had an "inherent deceptive dimension", he also explains "that we must look for clumsiness, competence, indelicacy" rather than seeing it as a system created to exploit its employees and defraud customers, he continued. The court decision was reserved on 5& ;nbsp;next December.
