The events took place on the evening of Saturday, May 4. According to the US Secret Service, the driver died instantly.

A car arriving at high speed crashed this Saturday, May 4, against one of the security perimeter gates around the White House in Washington, and its driver was killed, without that there was a threat to security, announced the American secret services.

"Just before 10:30 p.m., a vehicle arriving at high speed collided with one of the security perimeter gates around the White House" , they declared on the social network X.

Members of the security services present on the scene immediately attempted to rescue the driver, but he "had died", they clarified.

Disturbing intrusion attempts

An investigation is underway, but Anthony Gugielmi, spokesperson for the Secret Service, responsible for White House security, clarified that there were no "no threat or implications for public safety". No information on the identity of the person’ man implicated in the accident was not communicated, as were the circumstances of the accident.

In January, the driver of a vehicle was arrested for also hitting one of the security perimeter gates.

The White House has been the subject of several intrusion attempts in recent years, sufficiently worrying for the security services to decide in 2020 to build a new barrier, higher and ;rsquo;a more resistant metal, around the perimeter of the presidential residence.
