For his return tournament, Arthur Cazaux managed to get out of qualifying for the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai by winning his two matches without conceding a single set. It’s the start of a year of firsts for Arthur Cazaux. After winning his first Grand Slam match at the Australian Open, where he even reached the round of 16, his first match at home in Montpellier at the Open Sud de France , the Héraultais will now play his first match in the final draw of an ATP 500.

Apart from four first Grand Slam rounds since the start of his career, the Montpellier native had never yet reached the final draw of a 500 or 1000 tournament.

Musetti in the first round

After more than three weeks of rest, Cazaux (83rd in the world) managed to come out of qualifying in a very good way by not losing a set in two matches.

First by beating the Bosnian Damir Dzumhur (149th) 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday then the Italian Giulio Zeppieri (133rd) 7-6 [5], 6 -4 this Sunday, against whom he lost in the first round of Wimbledon qualifying last year. In the first round, he will face a new Italian this Tuesday at the start of the afternoon, with a one-handed backhand, Lorenzo Musetti (26th).

Gasquet will not see the final table

For his part, the Sérignanais Richard Gasquet did not manage to enter this final table despite his first victory in qualifying on Saturday against the Canadian Vasek Pospisil (7-6 [4] , 6-3).

On Sunday, the Héraultais started well against the former world number 31, the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics, by winning the first set 6-4. Before giving in 1-6, 4-6 after 1 hour 55 minutes of play.
