The former mayor of Prades-le-Lez, Jean-Marc Lussert, has died

Il s'est éteint à 63 ans des suites d'une longue maladie. Il avait effectué deux mandats à la tête de la commune, de 2008 à 2020, occupant également le fauteuil de vice-président de la Métropole délégué à la prévention des risques majeurs de 2017 à 2020.

Jean-Marc Lussert died this Monday March 4 following a long illness, at the age of 63. He was from Aurillac, in Cantal, where the funeral will take place. A tribute will be paid to him in Prades-le-Lez.

Former manager of the local football club, he had chaired the Prad'handball club in 2002. A year earlier, he was part of the list of the socialist Patrick Mortier, which had been defeated of five voices.

In 2008, he was elected various left-wing mayor of Prades, with thirty votes in advance. He had served two terms before being defeated in 2020 by the ecologist Florence Brau.

The mayor recalled in particular that the school canteen was "33% organic and two-thirds operated through short circuits" .

The population of Prades, which had stagnated between 2007 and 2012, had jumped by almost 20% since then, leading to the opening of six classes. The increase subsequently eased. The mayor had decided to densify rather than spread out, also favoring the pooling of equipment across the territory. He focused on innovative projects "like the sports plain with a hall geared towards climbing.

In 2017, he was appointed vice-president of the Metropolis responsible for Major Risk Prevention and Management of aquatic environments.
