The mayors of the community of municipalities mobilized for the recruitment of a director of the Millau and Saint-Affrique hospitals

The situation raises questions within the Millau and Saint-Affrique hospitals. Especially when the latter continue to feed the chronicle due to degraded services, like recently the emergency rooms in Millau. The situation concerns users and professionals. The latter continue to wave the red flag about the situation of the two establishments while waiting for the arrival of the joint hospital.

A new problem is added to the others: that of recruiting a new director. Indeed, since the departure of Sylvie Marty at the head of the two hospitals, Benoît Durand has taken over in the interim. A recruitment procedure for stable management had been launched and the person selected ultimately withdrew. During a second procedure, only Benoît Durand was a candidate. He went through all the stages before finally not being selected. "Yet he does the job, we indicate in the corridors. He could come with a whole team to the management and start a long job but he can't as long as he takes over the position on an interim basis."

"His professionalism is fully recognized"

Following this misunderstanding, as president of the community of communes Millau grands causses and president of the supervisory board, Emmanuelle Gazel sent a letter, co-signed with the other councilors of the community of communes&nbsp ;to Catherine Vautrin, Minister of Health, to move forward on this issue.

"He demonstrated his know-how and his interpersonal skills. His professionalism is fully recognized by the members of the two PCME (Presidents of the medical commission, Editor's note) and by the staff. Mr. Sébastien David, Mayor of Saint-Affrique and I can attest to the permanent involvement of Mr. Durand who ensured the proper functioning of our two establishments, is it written in this letter. Maintaining Mr. Benoît Durand in an unjustified interim period undermines the proper functioning of both structures and further weakens the proper monitoring of the future hospital project, thus giving his detractors an argument. I have expressed my incomprehension several times to Mr Didier Jaffre, DGARS Occitanie, who himself recognizes the need to find stable management. If the situation continues, I fear that the Acting Director will no longer have the capacity to properly carry out his missions to the extent that he cannot build a team around him."< /em>

“Respond to the situation”

Faced with the lack of emergency doctors for Thursday April 11 and Friday April 12, a meeting took place Wednesday evening in Saint-Affrique with the doctors concerned from the two hospitals for, according to Sophie Tort, deputy director of the Saint-Affrique hospital, "respond in a relevant manner to the situation". Finally, the reorganization did not ;#39;only concerned Thursday. The inter-union "deplores the implementation by the joint management of forced and always one-way pooling to the detriment of the Saint-Affrique hospital and the population".< /em>

"The project has not moved"

This letter, which looks like a bottle into the sea thrown by local elected officials, did not provoke any reaction from the Agency regional health (ARS). Although it is she who has the last word on recruitment, she has not responded to our requests in recent days to clarify this situation. During the last municipal council, questioned by Karine Haumaître, elected opposition member, Emmanuelle Gazel reaffirmed her commitment on the subject: "I am fighting like all the others so that The South Aveyron medical project remains the one that was presented to the municipal council. He hasn't moved and I'm fighting so he doesn't move."
