The campus of professions and qualifications of excellence “processes and technologies in sensitive environments Occitanie”, backed by the Einstein high school in Bagnols-sur-Cèze, develops actions to train young people and meet the needs of companies. It shines throughout Occitanie.

“The campus of professions and qualifications of excellence “processes and technologies in sensitive environments” was created in 2016 to implement actions to make the nuclear and industrial sector attractive, which needs skills and new employees " recalls Corine Negre, operational director of this campus of trades, backed by the Albert-Einstein high school in Bagnols-sur-Cèze. "The objective is to attract young people to industry". And to "meet the needs of the local economy” adds Thierry Delaigue, headmaster of Einstein high school and director of the career campus.

“This label is an entire ecosystem: we work with companies in the sector and training establishments, from CAP level to engineering schools. The goal is to adapt training courses so that they meet the expectations of companies. We are experts in the sector, we give our opinion on the opening or closing of training courses” explains the operational director.”For the nuclear sector, the campus has a broad reach across the entire region. “There are three nuclear entities in Occitanie: the Marcoule, Tricastin and Cadarache sectors; Orano Malvési in Narbonne; the Golfech nuclear power plant in Tarn-et-Garonne".

Nuclear passport to discover the professions in the sector

"Thanks to the campus, with companies, we create many actions aimed at different audiences" underlines Thierry Delaigue, who is also vice-president of Greta-CFA Gard Lozère. Mentoring, Young Business Meetings, events during Business Week or, in partnership with the University of Nuclear Professions (UMN), the deployment in Occitanie of a “nuclear passport”. It allows students in CAP up to Bac + 5 to discover careers in the nuclear industry. “It is an acculturation to nuclear power, with practical work, support for finding an internship or work-study program, modules…” In Bagnols, students from the public Einstein high school and the private Sainte-Marie high school benefit from this passport, “it is recognition on their CV“.

With the UMN again, merit-based scholarships are awarded to "young people involved in training for careers in tension" recalls Thierry Delaigue.

While many actions are being implemented to attract young people, it remains to convince parents to let their children go into the industrial and nuclear sectors. "We are going to enter a “parents-businesses” program to invite parents to learn more about nuclear industry careers. There are still a lot of clichés… Nuclear power has evolved a lot! ” reassures the headmaster of the Bagnolais high school.

A school-nuclear project at Einstein high school

In January 2025, a “school-nuclear project” will open its doors at Einstein high school. An educational tool, set up with Kairos training (D & S group) "shared with the training establishments of the territory in the field of industry. It will be open to all campus partners, students, continuing education trainees, apprentices… " explains principal Thierry Delaigue. Box à gloves, changing rooms, space for learning decontamination techniques… "students will have access to professional equipment".
