The prefect of Var wants to ban Marseille drug dealers from entering the streets of Hyères by order

Individuals from Bouches-du-Rhône already convicted of narcotics now risk a fine of 150 euros for coming to the Var town "without legitimate reason”.

While the war between drug traffickers has left 49 dead and more than 100 injured in 2023 in Marseille, the Var prefecture has just issued an unprecedented decree.

It thus prohibits residents of Bouches-du-Rhône who have been convicted of acts related to drug trafficking from driving or parking in Hyères. Which municipality is prey to the deployment of Marseille drug dealers, in particular the DZ Mafia and Yoda gangs who are fighting for control of drug trafficking in the popular Val des Rougières district.

The order prohibits "all individuals residing in Bouches-du-Rhône and known to have criminal records relating to narcotics, from circulating or to park on public roads" in Hyères "without legitimate reason". 

"The order demonstrates that the State is not effective in the fight against narcotics"

The application will obviously be difficult to implement and the effectiveness of such an order is questionable.

"It’is courageous, but the prefect will come up against several issues: he will not be able to repel the DZ mafia with fines of 150 & euro; and in any case if they want to move, they will still do it", reacts Bruno Bartoccetti, southern zone delegate of the Unité-SGP Police union.< /p>

"Next, this requires manpower resources and we prefer to work on investigations, particularly with drones. The prefect also demonstrates with this decree that the State is not effective in its fight against narcotics."
