The Saint-Affricain sports employers’ group is looking for new members

Le GESSA met en contact professionnels du sport.

Jean-Luc Boué, président de l’association le Groupement d’employeurs sportif saint-affricain (GESSA) lance un appel au secours. "With the departure of an employee plus the death of our treasurer at the beginning of 2024, no one, at our last general meeting on March 28, offered to replace her, we are organizing an elective general meeting this Thursday June 13 at the Maison de l’Popular Education. We need new blood" notes Jean-Luc Boué, president of GESSA.

Luckily, two people want to join the office this first half of June. The president specifies: "What is emerging is collegial governance with a sharing of tasks. Fortunately, the group benefits from the work of Gaétan, the town's sports facilitator, made available to us for administrative tasks.

A triangle

But how does it work? "The GESSA represents a triangle with a single employer at the top, the GESSA, and for the two bottom corners, members and employees. Its role: to facilitate administrative procedures for clubs and allow people who have been paid to have a real sporting career, explains its president.

For example, a parents' association needs a sports instructor to supervise a gymnastics cycle. After an initial contact by telephone or email, the people from GESSA meet them, offer a quote and if everyone agrees, an athlete intervenes, which GESSA pays with an employment contract, form pay and employment certificate.

Respecting the collective sports agreement, a session with an audience entitles you to half an hour of preparation. The group also reimburses travel costs and time. "We are witnessing a shift, that is to say moving from completely voluntary work to semi-professionalization"  recognizes Jean-Luc Boué. He sees it as recognition for the athletes who work to make Saint-Affricaine sports structures work.

Single employer

With twenty-eight members, associations, sports clubs, communities…, the group obeys the 1901 law governing (non-profit) associations. If you are an association or structure interested, simply contact the president and then join. GESSA is recruiting the right person(s) for you.

An invoice is sent once the service has been completed. As an employee, contact GESSA, you sign an employment contract and GESSA becomes your sole employer. It makes you available to several associations, builds your professional project with you, helps you become versatile and benefit from internal training.

Jean-Luc Boué finishes. "We are in demand in Saint-Affrique and in South-Aveyron. The GESSA represents ten sports with participants in football, climbing, competitive gymnastics, tennis, mountain biking, judo, voluntary gymnastics (all ages from 4 years to 77 years)… A new lease of life would allow GESSA to set up a CA (Board of Directors) in 2024 and continue its civic mission.

Contacts

The GESSA employs five employees for 2.3 full-time jobs. The group invoiced 70 256 € benefits in 2023 for more than 3,000 hours. It is the collective sports agreement which determines the remuneration scales. Membership price for clubs or structures: 1 euro; (Ad vitam aeternam), really affordable… GESSA: 06 17 17 52 23, gessa12400@gmail.com
