The Sud Santé solidaires union is worried about the Millau hospital

Les membres de Sud font le point sur la situation de l'hôpital de Millau. Midi libre – Maxime Cohen

Les membres de la section Sud santé solidaires de Millau ont balayé les sujets préoccupants de cette nouvelle année.

The Millau hospital has been without a director since March and no one has permanently taken the seat of Sylvie Marty, the former director. Currently, Benoît Durand has been acting on an interim basis since last March. A situation which inevitably concerns the members of the Sud santé solidaires union in Millau. "It must be the 14th or 15th that we will know in 10 years, deplores Pierre-Jean Girard, emblematic figure of trade unionists in the purple standard. This summer, we had bed closures in medicine because we lacked doctors, there was tension in the emergency room and the SSR (follow-up care and rehabilitation, Editor's note )."

The picture of the Millavois situation, painted by staff representatives, is sorely lacking in bright colors, like everywhere in France. "There is always an increase in beds that close, there were 6,700 more last year, supports Eric Aninat. We are short of staff and we increasingly feel the disenchantment with the profession."

"One plus one won't make two"

At the scale of the city of the glove, this situation does not reassure about the arrival of the future median hospital, for which the union has always positioned itself against. "One plus one will not make two, assures Pierre Jean-Girard. We can fear undersizing, between the laying the first stone (planned for 2025) and the opening of the establishment, we are afraid that services will close. The 160 beds correspond to the hospitals of Millau and Saint-Affrique, on paper. We fear that the ARS will review the size of the project."

A single acting director

Staff representatives warn in particular about recruitment, which is increasingly difficult in the public service. "The entire old management team has left, leaving only one director to take over in the interim, he does the job as best he can, lance Pierre-Jean Girard. The Regional Court of Auditors had noted a structural management deficit and we are subject to the non-decisions of the ARS."& nbsp; Not very reassuring prospects for the establishment of the city of the glove.
