Coming from the Pyrénées-Orientales, Hérault, Gard and Lozère, 17 teams, or nearly 150 students aged 13 to 18, from public and private agricultural schools, participated in the 30th Youth Prevention Trophy competition.

Enabling future agricultural professionals to get involved in health and safety projects at work in a constructive, original and civic-minded manner is the objective of the Youth Prevention Trophy competition. Organized this Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the event celebrated its 30th anniversary, at the Georges-Frêche event space, in Mende. It was supervised by the Mutualités sociale agricole (MSA) of Languedoc and Grand Sud.

Kahoot, security pictogram, QR code

Of the 17 projects initially proposed by the 150 students from public and private agricultural schools in the Pyrénées-Orientales, Hérault, Gard and Lozère, only four were selected to be presented, in the afternoon, to the general public and the 16 members of the jury. Among the four remaining teams, three were from Lozère. "Prevention ideas are linked to their sector", says Sophie Mercey, Lozère prevention advisor.

The first prize was obtained by the seconds of the professional sector of Legta Louis-Pasteur de La Canourgue. They received a check for 1,500 euros thanks to their project: "Start strong without effort". It consists of creating signs indicating warm-up advice before carrying out physical effort as a fish farmer.

The second prize, a check for 1 000 euros was given to the first STAV (sciences and technologies of agronomy and life) of the  rsquo;François-Rabelais school in Civergols, in Saint-Chély-d’Apcher. Their project: "Picto’sécu", a game "lucrative, preventive and raising awareness".

Third place was awarded to students from the Gignac school, in La Canourgue. Their idea is to put their Kahoot animation online (Editor's note: a fun learning platform, used as educational technology in schools and other educational establishments). This questionnaire is entitled "Viticulture work permit". It concerns the risks of working in this profession. For this project, they received 800 euros.

"These teams invest their winnings as they wish", concludes Sophie Mercey. While some indicate they want to use this amount to advance their project and make it concrete, others would like to go out together.
