Ce jeudi 27 juin, la préfecture de l’Hérault a maintenu les restrictions de récolte, de pêche, de commercialisation et de consommation pour les moules et palourdes de l’étang de Thau. Les restrictions sont levées pour les gastéropodes.

The prefecture of Hérault suspended, Thursday June 20, the fishing, marketing and consumption of mussels, clams and gastropods from the pond of Thau, due to the toxicity of phytoplankton contained in these shellfish.

The results of the samples of gastropods, oysters and mussels taken on Monday June 24, as part of the REPHYTOX network, in the Thau pond, are below the regulatory threshold. Consequently, the prefect of Hérault decided today to authorize fishing and marketing for human consumption of gastropods from the Thau pond.

Mussels prohibited, oysters allowed

Restrictions on mussels are maintained pending a second favorable result; the sample will be taken at the beginning of next week. In the absence of results on clams, this species is also concerned as a precautionary measure.

As a reminder, oysters are not affected by this contamination and can be consumed without restriction.
