Two notable successes for the RCML

The two teams of the Rugby Club Mende Lozère won this weekend!

This weekend ended in style for the RCML which saw its two teams win. First his reserve team with a large success (64-23), then the first team with in particular a fantastic first period allowing them to lead 25 to 0.

The success of the reserve

This weekend marked the long-awaited return of the RCML reserve to the field.

After several seasons of absence, the team struck hard with a resounding 64-23 victory against Union Rives Gauche.

This performance was reinforced by the presence of some former players, who came to lend a hand for this return match.

Their experience was invaluable in supervising the youngsters from the club's training, this mix of generations gave rise to a particularly fluid and effective game. Erwan Glousieau, for his first in seniors, shone by scoring a hat-trick, setting the tone for this promising start to the season.

The match was generally controlled with a first period completely dominated by the Mendois 5 tries to 0.

A one-sided first period

On the first team side, the RCML also started its season in the best possible way with a solid victory. From the first half, the Mendois imposed their game, reaching the break with a score of 25-0. Robin Durand, in top form, was the main offensive asset of this match, scoring a hat-trick that put the opposing team on the defensive.

For his part, Jérôme Darré converted two penalties, allowing the RCML to increase its lead before half-time.

The second half saw a change in conditions with the arrival of rain, disrupting the pace of play somewhat. The visiting team took advantage of this opportunity to score a try in the middle of the second half and convert two penalties. However, the Mendois did not give up, displaying a solid defense and unwavering commitment, even in difficult weather conditions. Jérôme Darré added a final penalty to seal the victory with a final score of 28-13. These two victories, marked by a great team spirit and quality individual performances, are an excellent start to the RCML season, which aims to qualify for the final phase.
