Caroline Côme, academic director of national education services (DASEN) of the Hérault department, announces the creation of classes with flexible schedules by 2025 to relaunch education ;#39;attractiveness and diversity of Les Garrigues college in Hauts de Massane, as was done at Simone Veil college.

Academy average results

They are, however, rather good, which is confirmed by DASEN, Caroline Côme, who intervenes on this thorny issue, for the educational aspect. &quot ;At the National Brevet Diploma, we have an 83% success rate, which is within the Academy average. The college has a very significant added value index, since we are able to help students in difficulty succeed (the college is in REP+, Editor's note) .

Following the logic of the former Las Cazes college, renamed Simone Veil, "we have projects so that this establishment shines and offers an attractive course, and that&#39 ;a mix is ​​taking place, she continues. "Projects linked to justice, sport, theater, linguistic exchanges are at work and the teaching team is very committed.& quot;

Classes with flexible cinema and digital timetables are rare

Today it wishes to set up classes with flexible schedules, usually oriented towards music, dance or sport, in the fields of digital technology and cinema , "innovative sections in partnership with cultural institutions",and rare or even non-existent in France, when it comes to digital technology.

These projects will be coordinated with the schedule of work undertaken by the Department, to the tune of 13 M€. "The rectorate is ready to provide the means to these classes, and they can be consistent, affirms DASEN.

René Revol, mayor of Grabels: “The construction of a college is justified”

René Revol, mayor of Grabels, has supported the approach of recalcitrant parents since "at least six years". "The answer given by Renaud Calvat, vice-president of the Department, regarding the population is false. There are not 8,000 of us. We have to anticipate the demographics. With the construction of Gimmels by 2028, we will have 12,000 inhabitants instead of the current 9,000.

For him, the construction of a new establishment north of Montpellier is justified, "especially since the students in the neighborhood Croix de Lavit, which adjoins Grabels, are obliged to go to Jeu de Mail, 4 kilometers away". As for Les Garrigues college, "it is made for 600 students, not 700, since we are in REP+. And we already have 604. We can push, but it's not the right strategy. In Grabels, the population of middle school students is already estimated at 450.

A plot of land has even been budgeted for in the heights of Euromédicine, of one and a half hectares, "l' reserved location in the PLUI, for the benefit of the municipality of Grabels". Located just 480 meters from Les Garrigues, "it's a little close, but it is ideal because trambus and line 5 will serve it. There is a real deficit north of Montpellier!".
