Victor Koretzky wins the first round of the Coupe de France in Marseille

Victor won the short track on Friday then followed it up on Sunday in the cross, Olympic format -Floris Fossey

After Spain and Italy, it was in France that the Héraultais raised its arms this Sunday. The mountain biker is heading straight for his 3rd consecutive Olympics, this summer in Paris. 

The faculty of Luminy, at the entrance to the calanques of Marseille, hosted from March 15 to 17 the first round of the 2024 Coupe de France for short and Olympic cross-country mountain biking.

On Friday, from the start, Lodévois Victor Koretzky won in the short format, a small second ahead of Adrien Boichis who is starting his first senior season there.
Sunday, on a rather technical course and ground prone to punctures, heralded a great battle between the Olympic contenders and the young people. This was not lacking with Adrien Boichis putting pressure on the Lodévois at the start of the race, even passing him in front. It was then Joshua Dubau who finished first the third of the five laps of the race but Victor Koretzky once again demonstrated that he was the best Frenchman of the moment by taking the lead during the fourth of the five laps to never let go by crossing the finish line 20 seconds ahead of Joshua Dubau. Jordan Sarrou, Simon Andreassen and Adrien Boichis complete the podium.

Young mountain bikers from the Cœur d’Hérault also took part in the competitions. In U17, Tom Villebrun (Team Occitanie and de Mourèze) finished 54th despite a shoe problem, Alex Sendral from Ruf’n bike (Mourèze) finished 76th, Romain Courtin (Roue libre gignacoise) finished 240th. In the Junior Open, Noé Arcuri (Lodève club) achieved a promising 5th place. In U19 UCI, Elian Sandoval, (Roc evasion mountain bike) is 51st.
