The French athlete admitted on Saturday July 27 that she did not know with whom she would light the Olympic cauldron during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

After hiding the fact that she was participating in the last torch relay when she was interviewed before the ceremony began, Marie-José Perec also admitted that she didn't know until a few minutes before with whom she would light the cauldron.

40 minutes before

“Tony (Estanguet) told me at 9:40 a.m. Friday morning that there would be two of us, but I didn't dare ask him who was the other,” the triple Olympic champion explains to France Télévision. It was only 40 minutes before going on stage that she discovered that she would form a duo with Teddy Riner.
