Russian strikes on kyiv

Russia pounded the Ukrainian capital Kiev in the early hours of Monday, local authorities said, as the entire country was placed on alert for Russian missile attacks. The air force said it destroyed 22 of the 35 missiles launched by Russia and 20 of the 23 attack drones. In detail, nine ballistic missiles and 13 cruise missiles were launched on the regions of Kiev, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Poltava, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia. The attack left at least two people injured, and cars were set on fire throughout the city, as well as a non-residential building.

Zelensky calls on US to allow Ukraine to strike deeper into Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday increased pressure on the United States to allow Ukraine to carry out strikes against military targets deep inside Russian territory. Washington has provided Kiev with more than $50 billion (€45 billion) in military aid since 2022. But their use is only permitted on Ukrainian territory or for cross-border defense operations. He stressed the importance of attacking Russian military bases to prevent shelling, such as the one that hit Kharkiv.

Russian shelling kills one, injures four in Sumy region

A civilian was killed and four others were injured in a Russian shelling in the Ukrainian region of Sumy, on the border between the two warring countries, the local Ukrainian administration said on Sunday.“During the night and morning, Russians launched 18 shelling attacks on border territories and settlements in the Sumy region; “47 explosions were recorded,” the administration said on Telegram.
