VIDEO. UFC: the impressive KO inflicted by Topuria on the legend Volkanovski

On the occasion of a new UFC event – American martial arts fighting organization, Ilia Topuria, undefeated, ended nearly 5 years of reign of Volkanovski on a violent knockout, on the night of Saturday February 17. 

In December 2019, Alexander Volkanovski became UFC featherweight champion (-66kg) against Max Holloway by unanimous decision of the jury. A fight which subsequently gave rise to an emblematic trilogy, largely won by Volkanovski (3-0). 

Since then, he has successfully defended his title five times. Overpowering for his category, he even tried to move up to the higher category, dominated by Islam Makhachev, also undefeated. 

After a first failure, Volkanovski tried again in October 2023, and suffered a violent KO in the first round, thus shattering his last chance to obtain a historic second belt.& nbsp;

The last straw ? 

Saturday, on the occasion of this 6th belt defense against Topuria, he had the opportunity to remember everyone's good memories. < /p>

His opponent, Ilia Topuria, a naturalized Georgian and Spaniard, remained on a perfect series of 14 victories in 14 fights. That's 15 now after the KO inflicted on Volkanovski.

As soon as he was back on his two legs, the latter, 35 years old, indicated that he wanted to get back into the ring as soon as possible: "I am a champion since a long time. I want this revenge. This is something that has to happen" he said.

Ilia Topuria would not be opposed to it.

The next big UFC meeting will pit Nîmes Benoît Saint-Denis against American Dustin Poirier. It will be March 9.
