Un avion de tourisme s’est écrasé ce jeudi 22 août 2024 dans la jungle thaïlandaise. Neuf passagers dont deux enfants sont recherchés.

A search is underway in the Thai jungle on Friday for the nine passengers of a light aircraft that crashed in the east of the country on Thursday, but authorities are not hopeful.

“We think they are all dead”

The turboprop plane crashed in the jungle of Chachoengsao province in the east on Thursday while carrying nine people from Bangkok to Trat, near the Cambodian border.

All occupants likely died in the crash, Thai authorities said.

"The accident happened around 3:10 p.m. We are trying to find the missing people, but we think they are all dead", Chachoengsao Governor Chonlatee Yangtrong told reporters at the accident site.

According to local media, the passengers were four Thais and five Chinese, including two children aged 12 and 13.

300 soldiers and volunteers are looking for them

More than 300 soldiers and volunteers are deployed to search for the missing people, and the authorities have launched an investigation to identify the causes of the accident.

Body parts, as well as parts of the plane, were found but heavy rains slowed down the search.

"We do not intend to stop until we find the missing people, although some areas are waterlogged", added the governor.
