Ce mercredi 10 janvier, Météo France a placé sept départements en vigilance orange pour neige et verglas. Dans la journée, il pourrait neiger en plaine en Occitanie.

The episode of intense cold continues throughout France. While snow and ice disrupted traffic, particularly in Île de France, this Tuesday, Météo France still places seven departments on orange alert this Wednesday, January 10.

These are Essonne, Yvelines, Eure, Eure-et-Loire, Calvados, Orne and Manche. Due to "frozen ground" and the presence of “patches of ice", Météo France urges motorists to exercise caution when traveling.

Snow in the region ?

The snowy episode could gradually reach the south-west of France. "This Wednesday, in Lozère, sometimes significant snowfall may occur, specifies the government website. During the night from Wednesday to Thursday then Thursday morning, in the interior of Aude and the Pyrénées-Orientales, an episode of snow at low altitude is expected. The quantities of snow on the ground are still uncertain."

In the afternoon, precipitation is expected across the entire southern half of France. And the rain could locally mix with the snow.

For the evening and night to come, La Chaîne Météo announces a "cooling in Occitanie". "The snow will extend to the plains in Midi-Toulousain, the Tarn and the Carcassonne region", underlines meteorologist Cyril Duchesne.
