When padel becomes a solidarity sport thanks to the Barrière casino

The Barrière casino presented checks to four associations and to Jean-Félix Boudou, disabled and practicing high-level wheelchair tennis.

Several local businesses, the Barrière casino and the municipality of Agde participated in the second edition of the charity padel tournament, the weekend of October 7 and 8. "This tournament was a success with 150 participants, 50 more than last year", explains Alain Puyo, one of the two organizers, accompanied by Frédéric Marcos. "This tournament is organized by the casino as part of our group's Environmental Social Responsibility (CSR)."

This year, this sporting event made it possible to raise the sum of €6,500, i.e. €1,000 more than in 2022. A sum which is entirely distributed to associations.

This is how €1,000 was allocated to Les Verdisses with the aim of planting trees for birds and bees. €1,000 was awarded to Terre Marine for marine biodiversity and to Adena for terrestrial biodiversity. The Restos du coeur benefit from €2,000 to distribute more packages. A check for €500 was given to Jean-Félix Boudou, a high-level wheelchair tennis athlete. A sum that will allow him to travel during the next tournaments.

"Due to my national ranking < /i>(50th), there is no competition in the south of France. I have to travel to Annecy, Dunkirk, Cesson and Valenciennes", explains the tennis player. This also includes the project of organizing a wheelchair tennis tournament in Cap-d'Agde.

The third edition of the padel tournament is planned for next year . The objective is to raise even more money, to unite and raise awareness among players when they register for the CSR approach.

&amp ;quot;Our action does not stop at distributing checks. We go into the field to monitor the commitments made by everyone and monitor, thanks to members of the CSR committee, the implementations", indicates Alain Puyo, the CSR manager of the Barrière group.

Appointment is therefore made for the 2024 edition.
