Zigzag between cars, “rear wheels”, excessive speeds…: three drivers arrested in the middle of an urban rodeo in Montpellier

Between May 24 and 26, national police officers arrested three traffic offenders traveling on motorcycles or in cars.

In the space of three days, three traffic offenders were apprehended in the middle of an urban rodeo by the police in the town of Montpellier.
The first events date back to Friday May 24, around 11:30 p.m., when a patrol noticed an individual riding an unapproved 450 cc motocross bike, rue Paul-Rimbaud in Petit Bard.

The accused performs several “wheelies” at excessive speed ignoring pedestrians. When he was checked, he fled, taking a cycle path and running several red lights. But he found himself stuck in front of the gate of a residence. He then continued his escape on foot, abandoning his two-wheeler. He was finally apprehended not far away.

If his motorcycle was impounded, this young 22-year-old Turk was referred to the public prosecutor this Saturday, May 25. He is being prosecuted for endangering the lives of others and driving without a license.

Exasperated local residents

On the 25th at 8:30 p.m., it was a 17-year-old young person, on his 50 cc scooter, who was arrested on the Allée du Pays-d'Oc à la Mosson. That evening, in fact, police officers, who were securing the intervention of firefighters on a vegetation fire, were approached by numerous local residents.

The latter told them of their exasperation with several young people from the neighborhood who were taking part in urban rodeo, not far from there. By going to the indicated location, the police were able to arrest one who was trying to flee.

Holding a bag of cannabis herb and a small knife, he was taken into police custody before being released. He is the subject of criminal proceedings.

Angry motorists

The last recorded event took place on Sunday May 26 at 9:15 p.m. on Avenue de la Liberté where several angry motorists reported the presence of & rsquo;a driver who indulged in gymkhana at the wheel of an Audi A3.

According to the various testimonies, the accused committed multiple infractions of the Highway Code: zigzag between the car, crossing the white line, excessive speeds, overtaking on the right and on the left… ;hellip;

Arrested in his vehicle when he had just snorted nitrous oxide from a balloon, this 19-year-old is the subject of an order criminal. His vehicle was impounded pending trial.
