A “heartbreaking but necessary decision”: Aerosmith cancels its farewell tour and announces terrible news to its fans

The band Aerosmith announced that they were canceling their farewell tour on August 2, 2024 on Instagram and took the opportunity to announce some sad news.

The legendary American rock band posted a message on Instagram on August 2 to announce to its fans that the farewell tour “Peace Out Tour” was going to end earlier than expected.

“A complete recovery from this injury is not possible”

For several months, the band's lead singer, Steven Tyler, has been suffering from a throat injury that he has been unable to treat.

“As you know, Steven's voice is an instrument like no other, Aerosmith writes. He has spent months working tirelessly to get his voice back to where it was before his injury. We saw him fight with the best medical team by his side”, the band members first explained.

Already at the end of September 2023, Aerosmith was forced to interrupt its farewell tour after Steven Tyler fractured his larynx. Nine months later, the situation has still not improved for the singer: “Unfortunately, it is clear that a complete recovery from this injury is not possible”, regrets the band.

“You made our dreams come true”

The members of Aerosmith have therefore decided to cancel their last tour and also to retire earlier than planned. Upcoming shows have been cancelled: “We have made the heartbreaking, difficult but necessary […] decision to retire from touring".

To close their Instagram post, the band also asked their fans for one last favour fans: “Play our music loud, now and forever. Dream. You made our dreams come true.”
