If 2021-2022 was the year of revelation, last season, that of confirmation, the 2023-2024 financial year is that of the explosion for Gabin Lorre.
The rear of the ASBH showed a lot of things, sometimes too much, like his buttocks during a solo test in Dax.
With 13 tries scored, restarts from the back of the field, but also assists for his teammate Raffaele Storti (21 tries), Lorre transforms everything he touches into gold.

The young Gabin takes the oval ball in his hands for the first time, at the RCO Salagou rugby school, at the age of 4. "I started rugby, he followed me, then our brother Marius got into it later, even my mother", confides Tanguy, the big brother, two years older.

At 12 years old, the Lodévois tried the adventure with the MHR. There he met Jules Danglot, current scrum half at RC Toulon. "I remember that he played number 10 and stumbled with an old red block (laughs)", says the Ex-Montpellier. However, after four years in the Cistes jersey, Gabin Lorre is not retained… "It’s a bit bastard, because it’ in terms of the size that he doesn't keep it", remembers Tanguy Lorre.
"In Montpellier, it’was the big fashion to fit into criteria of size, weight…", specifies Danglot .

From half opening to rear

It's in Pézenas that the young Gabin bounces back and asserts himself, gains a few centimeters and a few kilos, to compete in great final stages in 2018 (vice champion of Occitanie Juniors).
"He saw in Pézenas that he had a crazy level and was able to show himself during the departmental selections", notes his older brother.

To his advantage in the purple jersey of Stade Piscénois, Lorre went to ASBH, to the Crabos (U19) in 2019. The coach at the time, David Theillet remembers ;rsquo;a somewhat crazy player, who reeks of rugby, with a very nice left foot."

Having moved from fly-half to full-back, Lorre experienced his first professional minutes, one evening in October 2021, on the lawn of Charles-Mathon, in Oyonnax. This first season, he played eight matches and ended the year as a starter, at only twenty years old. He attacks the following exercise with the number 15 on his back to play 18 matches, scoring 7 tries.
This season, Gabin showed that he was no longer that kid, but an executive on the team. "He's a little kid who is humble, who always has a smile on his face, likes to recall Charly Malié, an experienced player who acts as a mentor. He brings us his madness."

"I wish him to go and taste the Top 14"

Between his double to snatch a draw against Vannes, at the start of the season, his interception at Montauban, his “déculottée” in Dax or the conclusion of a 90 meter restart, against Brive, Lorre showed that the promises placed in him were justified.

"He has a bright future ahead of him because’he is very complete, praises Charly Malié, his opener at ASBH. I wish him to go and taste the Top 14 because he has plenty of place, but perhaps next season with Béziers… That would be wonderful…"

Friday evening, in Vannes (9 p.m.), he will be one of the main weapons of the Béziers collective, to achieve one more feat.
