Fermée depuis plusieurs semaines, la plage emblématique d’Agde va rouvrir au public dans quelques jours.

The company responsible for clearing the cliffs of Grande Conque beach, where several rocks are threatening to fall off, has been in action since the beginning of the week. Rope access technicians specializing in this type of work, which is not without risk. They are therefore taking all the necessary safety measures to work in the best conditions and, above all, to return the beach to bathers as quickly as possible.

A unique beach on the coast

It must be said that the regulars of this natural site, which is, let us recall, the only volcanic beach on the coast, with its black sand and its famous rocks called the Deux Frères, are starting to find the time long. Even more so when the start of summer means a thorough cleaning of the beach, with a Tramontane that would knock the horns off an ox! The Grande Conque is well sheltered and the swimmers are really impatient.

Wood fences laid at the foot of the cliffs

Security operations will continue until the weekend. “The right side of the beach will be open this weekend”, announces the mayor of Agde, Sébastin Frey. Knowing that the work order runs until July 12, the other portion of the cliff, on the left side, will be treated next week. At the same time, slats that will demarcate a buffer zone between the bottom of the cliffs and the rest of the beach will also be installed. A final step before the full reopening of the Grande Conque.
