Choirs, jazz and electro: the new fountains of the Esplanade inaugurated with music this Friday, June 21, in Montpellier

La ligne d’eau et ses fontaines seront dévoilées aux Montpelliérains, ce vendredi 21 juin à 19 h. D.R.

The water line and its fountains will be unveiled to Montpellier residents this Friday, June 21 at 7 p.m., before a lively evening, as part of the music festival.

The musical notes will burst out at the same time as the water from the new fountains of the Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle, renamed Esplanade des arts et de la culture, this Friday June 21. From 7 p.m., Montpellier residents will be able to make use of the new facilities on the central aisle, now equipped with a 200-meter water line which should delight the little ones starting this summer.

Three musical proposals

June 21, the City has planned to inaugurate the new fountains with music, with a stage installed opposite the Bosc kiosk. The opening of the evening will be entrusted to the fifty teenagers from the Cité des arts student choir. The residents of the Montpellier Conservatory will offer, from 7:35 p.m., a repertoire combining pop, rock, rap and even musical comedy. At 8:20 p.m., the Gard virtuoso Laurent Coulondre – twice awarded at the Victoires du Jazz – will sit at the piano for carte blanche, solo then in trio. The end of the evening promises to be electric, with the arrival of Töfie and its electro-pop universe, from 22 h 20.

Requalification continues

With the inauguration of the fountains on the Esplanade, a new stage in the requalification of the Place de la Comédie and its surroundings has come to an end. At the foot of the Trois Grâces, the work on the paving stones is not completely finished, particularly at the Café Riche where a temporary arrangement has been installed. The work will not continue this summer so as not to impact the operation of the terraces.
