Après le Chapon fin durant vingt ans, le couple a ouvert une nouvelle brasserie.

A very welcoming place with its space, its staff and its philosophy of welcoming, in short the brasserie as we see it, as we like it and where we feel at home. The couple Christophe and Sandra Ciantar have not lost the wonderful habits that made them famous for years, twenty to be precise, when they were at the head of the Chapon fin restaurant, in the heart of Nîmes. For several months, they have been embarking on a new experience in catering, with the establishment they opened in September 2023 in Ville-Active, the café-brasserie-glacier A la maison.

Recognized chef who has appeared in some gastronomic guides, Christophe aspired to more calm. "After 35 years spent in the kitchen, I wanted to welcome my friends in front of the stove, and not behind them, so that I could finally chat with them at lunch time. My wife and I were tired of classic restaurants. But there was no question for Sandra and me of abandoning an environment that is dear to us, hence the opening of this brasserie. Now I'm at the counter in direct contact with customers, Guy and Alexandre doing the cooking wonderfully. I feel like I’m at home", he explains.

Relaxation and conviviality

The place is rightly its name. An efficient and very friendly service in a large, very friendly space, everything is done to make the customer comfortable. "Most of the clientele work and lunch time must be truly relaxing for them." Open from 7 a.m., the The establishment offers breakfast and afternoon pancakes, waffles, ice creams and other milkshakes. On the catering side, at lunchtime only, there are lunch options, currently at €13.90 for the daily special, €17.90 for two courses or starter-main-dessert at €19.90 or à la carte dishes.

Chef Guy Bergamin, a former chef at Chapon fin, accompanied by Alexandre Agaty, offers a beautiful brasserie menu and if they innovate, notably with meal salads, they also include some classics which have left their mark on many Nîmes palates such as homemade brandade, bull ribs or cuttlefish a la plancha. "Everything is homemade with fresh produce, we are not changing a habit that has made us famous. At the start of the school year, we are going to put our sauerkraut back on the menu because everyone is asking for it, admits Christophe. We also offer, one or two Friday evenings per month, concert evenings. No one is forgotten because the establishment also has a room reserved for seminars or private events that can accommodate 80 people. An address to remember to have a nice time in all circumstances.
