Gérald Darmanin accused of rape: the Court of Cassation validates the dismissal of the case in favor of the Minister of the Interior

While an appeal had been filed in January 2023 against the dismissal of the case from which Gérald Darmanin, accused of rape since 2020 by Sophie Spatz-Patterson, benefited, the Court of Cassation validated this dismissal this Wednesday, February 14 .

Gérald Darmanin was definitively cleared this Wednesday, February 14. The Court of Cassation rejected the appeal, validating the dismissal of the case from which Gérald Darmanin benefited in the rape investigation which has targeted him since 2020. The case is therefore definitively closed for the current Minister of the Interior, indicates BFMTV.

A consensual relationship

The appeal was filed by Sophie Spatz-Patterson, the woman who accuses him of rape, in January 2023, following the dismissal of Gérald Darmanin at first instance and on appeal . This former UMP supporter accuses Gérald Darmanin of having raped her in 2009 in a hotel room. Although he admitted a sexual relationship, the Minister of the Interior always maintained that it was consensual.
