How Yvon Pellet almost got elected in spite of himself: story of the twist at the end of the Montpellier Metropolis council

The metropolitan council was definitely agitated until the end this Tuesday, April 2. The deliberation N° 86, which related to the 13th vice-presidency until then occupied by Coralie Mantion, was the subject of a dramatic turn of events in the hemicycle.

Laurent Jaoul proposes the name of Yvon Pellet

It was the Montpellier ecologist Bruno Paternot who was proposed to succeed Coralie Mantion as vice-president for sustainable development of the Metropolis. But he was only elected by 37 votes to 24 for Yvon Pellet, the mayor of Saint-Geniès-des-Mourgues, who was not even a candidate!

His name was proposed at the last minute by Laurent Jaoul, mayor of Saint-Brès, furious that Bruno Paternot had voted just before “against a subsidy proposed for bullfighting clubs in our villages"

A vote that says a lot about the gap that is widening between the elected officials of the city and those of rural communities.
