À la veille de sa finale contre Alcaraz, l’Allemand Alexander Zverev s’est dit "heureux" d’avoir trouvé un accord à l’amiable avec son ex-compagne.

Alexander Zverev, whose trial for domestic violence ended Friday with an out-of-court settlement, said "happy"< /em> at the end of the procedure, in a first comment made following his qualification for the Roland-Garros final.

It lasted four years, so I'm glad it's over

"I'm glad it's over. I have nothing else to say. It lasted four years, so I'm happy it's over", said the 27-year-old German. Asked whether he would not have preferred a judgment exonerating him, Zverev assured that the settlement obtained was equivalent to finding him not guilty.

Abandonment of procedure

"This is what "abandonment of procedure” means. It’s innocence. They are not going to drop the procedure if in fact you are guilty. I don't know what translation you got, but that's what it means, he insisted.

"Done. Let's change the subject. I never want to hear any questions about this again. That goes for everyone", he added for the benefit of all the journalists present at his press conference.

He will have to pay an amount of 200,000 euros

German justice announced on Friday the abandonment of the trial against the 4th player in the world, after an amicable agreement with his ex-partner who accused him of domestic violence.

The court did not reveal the content of the extrajudicial agreement between the two parties, but Zverev will, however, have to pay an amount of 200  000 euros within one month.

The player had contested a first instance judgment which had imposed on him in October 2023 a fine of 450 000 euros for "assault" against his former partner Brenda Patea.
