Nadal – Zverev in the first round of Roland-Garros: the match should be played on Monday during the day and therefore visible to all for free

The long-awaited match between Rafael Nadal and Alexander Zverev should be played on Monday afternoon, therefore allowing greater exposure for this first gala round at Roland-Garros.

After the astonishment of the news of this first Dantesque round between the master of the place and the recent winner of the Rome tournament, everyone only had that in mind.

Is this Nadal – Zverev of the first round would be scheduled in the evening – benefitting paid broadcaster Prime Video – or during the day, owned by France Télévisions and therefore visible to as many people as possible ?

According to our colleagues from L’Equipe, the organizers of Roland-Garros would have favored the second option, therefore benefiting from free broadcasting of the event.

Nadal much more comfortable during the day than in the evening

But the Tournament Director Amélie Mauresmo probably did not choose this option to please the public audiovisual group. But rather to the man who has won 14 times in Paris.

It's no secret that Rafael Nadal actually prefers to play during the day where the conditions are more favorable for his game and his destructive strikes. While in the evening, the earth is more humid and the effects fade. In 2022 before his retirement due to injury, the German had also greatly bothered the Mallorcan during a match played… at night.
