This Monday, May 27, will take place the National Day of Resistance. A ceremony will be held in the morning in Béziers.

A ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., followed half an hour later by the unveiling of the bust of Mr. Aner Shapiro on Ukraine Alley Free, young Israeli who sacrificed his life on October 7 during the Hamas attack. The mayor of the city had already announced this tribute in the municipal council.

On the occasion of the National Day of the Resistance, Emmanuelle and Robert Ménard, respectively deputy of Hérault and mayor of Béziers, Michel Moulin deputy in charge of citizenship, relations with associations and veterans, Émile Fort, municipal councilor responsible for veterans, as well as the municipal council of Béziers will be present this Monday on the Place du 14July.

A hero

Since July 19, 2013, the National Day of Resistance has been established by the National Assembly on May 27. It corresponds to the date of the first meeting of the National Council of the Resistance (CNR), organized clandestinely and chaired by Jean Moulin in Paris, specifies the Ministry of Defense.

This new bust will join that of Mahsa Amini which was put in place in May 2023, this 22-year-old Iranian woman who died a few days after her arrest by the morals police who became "symbol of freedom" in the country.
