Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Marie-José Pérec will be on the Banque Populaire trimaran for the torch relay to the French West Indies

La triple championne olympique Marie-José Pérec fait partie des huit personnalités sélectionnées pour embarquer à bord du bateau Maxi Banque Populaire XI à l’occasion du relais de la flamme olympique, a annoncé lundi le Comité d’organisation des Jeux olympiques et paralympiques de Paris 2024.

Marie-José Pérec will cross the Atlantic from Brest, on June 7, to Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe), on June 15, with the Miss France 2013 Marine Ltemporel, actor Alexis Michalik and chef Hugo Roellinger.

A gift overseas

The boat will resume its journey towards Martinique, on June 16, with another crew composed of the double Olympic fencing champion and former Minister of Sports Laura Flessel, of the ;rsquo;ex-swimmer Coralie Balmy, skipper Kéni Piperol-Dampied and surfer Thomas Debierre.

These two crews will accompany Armel Le Cléac'h and Sébastien Josse, the usual skippers of the Maxi Banque Populaire XI and winners of the last edition of the Transat Jacques-Vabre in November 2023.

"This crossing is a gift we give overseas", declared Marie-José Pérec. "Taking the flame to these territories is essential. I am delighted and proud that we can involve all the West Indies in this great celebration", she added.
