Paris 2024 Olympics: Boukli, Dupont, swimming, fencing… what a first medal for France ?

This Saturday, July 27th marks the first day after the opening ceremony of these 2024 Olympic Games, with several possibilities for France to win a medal.

The French delegation is ambitious. Claude Onesta, head of the National Sports Agency, had announced that he was aiming for 60 medals for these Paris Olympics. This Saturday, July 27th could be synonymous with the first medals. Which athlete will be the first to win the trinket ?

The Gardoise Shirine Boukli ?

Three-time European champion, European vice-champion, Gardoise Shirine Boukli (-48 kg) will have a hard time hiding her favorite costume this Saturday. From 10 a.m., she will launch the French judo delegation. The native of Aramon will especially be keen to erase the Tokyo Games, in 2021, when she was eliminated in the first round. The possible final takes place at 5:38 p.m.

In the men's category, Luka Mkheidze (-60 kg) will have his say in his category. 

Antoine Dupont and the sevens ?

The Blues of rugby sevens have a date with their history. At 3:30 p.m., Antoine Dupont's teammates face South Africa in the semi-final. The other semi-final will see Fiji and New Zealand face off. The final will be played at 7:45 p.m.

Swimming, fencing and skateboarding…

The swimming sequence begins this Saturday. The men's 4x100m relay, led by Maxime Grousset, can claim the medal.

The same goes for fencing, the biggest supplier of French medals in the Olympic Games. We expect Marie-Florence Candassamy in épée, with a potential final at 9:50 p.m. For sabre, Boladé Apithy and Sébastien Patrice also have a chance to go for a podium.

In skateboarding, Aurélien Giraud is also a candidate for the trinket. The final is at 5 p.m.
