In contention for the gold medal this Wednesday, April 7, Sofiane Oumiha lost his fight against the Cuban Erislandy Alvarez in the final of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

All he needed was the gold medal. He had put everything in place, built everything to go for this supreme title. Sofiane Oumiha failed on the last step.

Two rounds to one

The Cuban Erislandy Alvarez did everything to spoil the party, winning the first round by a wide margin (5 judges to 0). The Toulousain equalized by winning the second round. But the last, decisive, round was given to the Cuban. Terrible disappointment for the Frenchman.

It's his second silver medal after the one in Rio, in 2016. It's also the 51st medal for the French delegation.
