The government website Rappel Conso has issued several recalls since Friday March 15, 2024 for trays of minced steak in which the bacteria Escherichia coli was detected.

Sold between February 29 and March 5

These minced steaks were sold in several supermarket brands in France, between February 29 and March 5, 2024.

Multiple articles affected

Several different items are affected: boxes Chopped Steak X2 5% Transpare, Chopped Steak ;nbsp;% X1 CORA VBF or the VBF hashed tile. The list of the different batches and stores concerned was published by Rappel Conso.

What to do?

The recalled lots are labeled 40595076 and have a best before date of March 5. Customers who have purchased this product should not consume it and can return it to the relevant point of sale for a refund. A refund is possible.

What are the symptoms?

The symptoms of E. Coli contamination are "abdominal pain and diarrhea, which can develop into bloody forms (hemorrhagic colitis). Vomiting and fever may also occur. If in most cases, recovery is spontaneous, the infection can sometimes lead to a severe form called hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) and can be fatal", recalls the Institut Pasteur website.

According to this same source, each year, in France, around 160 severe enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli infections are counted.
