Ce mardi 21 mai, les cheminots sont appelés à faire grève par les syndicats. Explications.

Journée noire prévue ce mardi 21 mai en Ile-de-France. Les syndicats Sud-Rail et la CGT ont appelé à faire grève.

Two months before the start of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, SNCF railway workers were called to strike. Strong disruptions are therefore expected in Ile-de-France and the movement should be closely monitored according to our colleagues from Parisien.

This May 21, barely one RER in two will run on lines A and B, according to traffic forecasts released this Monday. One in five will run during rush hour on the D. The RER C and E will only have two trains out of five running during rush hour.

The SNCF has recommended that Ile-de-France residents favor teleworking or postpone their trips for this Tuesday.

The reasons for anger

The objective of this strike movement is to "put pressure" on direction. "We found that the negotiation was dragging a little and we wanted to provoke things", explained the federal secretary SUD-Rail, Fabien Villedieu quoted by the Parisien.

The unions are therefore demanding an increase in the bonus planned for railway workers during the Olympic Games. The CGT and Sud Rail explain that few employees will be able to go on vacation during the summer due to a significant workload.

They also deplore the fact that compensation of barely 50 euros gross per day worked was provided for during the days of competition.

A conclusive meeting must take place the day after the strike, Wednesday May 22.
