Alcaraz renonce au tournoi de Barcelone à deux mois de Roland-Garros

The Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, world No.3, has withdrawn from the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona which begins next week and of which he is double title holder, due to a persistent injury to his right arm. Alcaraz had already had to withdraw from the Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo this week, due to "compression of the median nerve in his right arm".

The Spaniard then had to enter the second round and waited until the last moment before finally giving up. This time again, "even if he tried until the last moment, he will not participate" at the tournament, the organizers said in a press release, adding that the two-time Grand Slam winner did not have any "good feelings" during his training on Sunday.

We will miss you champion

This is a new hard blow for Alcaraz, not yet able to return to competition, unlike his compatriot Rafael Nadal who should make his return to the clay court of Barcelona for their first match in more than three months.

"We will miss you, champion", the organizers indicated in an Instagram post, mentioning the main party.
