Technique, souplesse, originalité, musicalité sont notés par les juges. Nathalie Hardouin

On the stage of the La Grande-Motte sports hall, Sunday afternoon March 31, the battles continued, with the aim of winning the title of regional champion which qualifies the breakers for the national final in Dunkirk, may's beginning.

There are more than a hundred dancers competing in the four categories of B-Boy and B-Girl, +/- 16 years old. First during group passages. Six or seven on each side who enter the stage in turn. There will remain sixteen who will then compete in face-to-face, direct elimination battles. The three members of the jury have a few seconds to raise their hands and designate the winner before moving on.
No time to breathe. The runs follow one another, highlighting technique, "with the vocabulary of breaking", originality, energy dancers, and their ability to appropriate the space, the audience, the music. The body becomes a language that provokes, challenges, moves between strength and flexibility. "What makes the difference is being able to be complete, explains the winner in +16, Yassif, in terms of commitment, technique, of originality… "

The visibility of the Olympics

We can add reactivity, when, in the middle of a run, the pellets blow in this palace. More music, a speaker with a bare voice, and the audience who immediately clap their hands to beat the rhythm and make them dance “a cappella”.
The DJ's decks will start touring again for a whirlwind show. And a nice spotlight on a discipline that mixes culture and sport, even more so with its entry into the Games. "With recognition and a high-level status for dancers explains Lahouari Maachou, head of the organizing club, Montpellier Breaking Métropole, who can thus be supported, financed, in their career project& quot;. Like Montpellier's Khalil Chabouni who next May will seek his ticket during the Olympic qualifying tournament to join another qualifier from Occitanie, B- Boy Danny. "The Olympics have shed more light on the discipline", rejoices Lahouari who for years has been working to energize the local, regional, to unite it through actions. "Ensure that in the Region, we have a strong breaking community".

In B-Boy, +16 years, victory for Yassif, member of Montpellier Breaking Métropole and Indigène and in -16 years, Noa (Submarin Montpellier).

For the Girls, regional champions in +16 years: Cléa (Agde Dimension 34) and in -16 years, Roxane (Alèx All Style).
