After the Spanish War and May 68, the company Les Maladroits tackled a very current subject: Palestine. The show Players, given this Wednesday at the Jean Vilar theater, concludes a cycle of three shows on commitment, utopias and heritage. The latter was born from a trip made by Hugo, one of the actors, to the West Bank. He was supposed to go there with a Palestinian friend, but was only able to go there alone. Once back, he felt "the strong need to tell what he had experienced" confides Benjamin Ducasse, actor and co-director. When we ask the actors to summarize the show, they explain: "It’s the story of a friendship put to the test of political commitment" . It features Youssef, an artist trying to create a committed work and Thomas, an activist for the Palestinian cause.

A theater of words and objects

It is the history of Palestine of yesterday and that of today which can be understood in this speech theater and object theater show. A series of portraits transport us to Israel and the occupied territories using tape, bricks, concrete blocks, pieces of wood, teapots and other dozens of objects. Beyond the story of a conflict, the updating of which with the events of last October is impossible, the show questions the commitment and resistance.

Wednesday January 24 at 8 p.m. Jean Vilar Theater, 155 rue de Bologne, Montpellier. Full price: 20 €.
