The rain has recharged the water tables but “levels remain very worrying” in Occitanie, indicates the BRGM

Dans son bulletin mensuel, le BRGM souligne l’amélioration de la situation des réserves souterraines d’eau. Les Corbières et le Roussillon restent dans le rouge.

"The water table situation is satisfactory over a large part of the territory, with 58% of levels above normal. Recharging remains active on most aquifers ", notes the BRGM, responsible for monitoring the level of underground water reserves, in its monthly bulletin of April 16.

It reports "levels increasing for 64 % of observation points". But "27 % of levels are below monthly normals".

While "the recharge period should end in April or May", reminds the BRGM, "the situation is unfavorable, with low to very low levels, on the Sundgau inertial layer to the south of Alsace, and on the layers of the Languedoc and Roussillon coast& ;quot;.

"The situation", must be "particularly monitored on the water tables of the coast of Languedoc, Roussillon and Corsica".

The BRGM notes in particular that "the levels remain stable or falling on the aquifers of the Roussillon plain and the Corbières massif"  : "On the Languedoc coast, the recharge in March is significant but the infiltrated rains remain insufficient to make up for the deficits of recent months. The water tables still have unfavorable levels, from moderately low to very low. Finally, in the context of a rainfall deficit for almost two years, the levels remain very worrying on the limestone layers of the Corbières massif and the Roussillon plain", specifies the BRGM.
