Christophe Perrin died suddenly during the night from Wednesday to Thursday at the age of 62. He had just left his position as regional delegate of Cimade, an association he had joined as a volunteer in 1993.

He was 62 years old and had just left his position as regional delegate of the association which he had joined in 1993 as a volunteer before joining its staff and then taking over the direction.

Tireless activist

Over the years and his actions carried out with vulnerable people, he had become a figure in the Montpellier activist landscape mobilized for the rights of undocumented immigrants. Christophe Perrin was also particularly involved in the cause of Palestine and its decolonization. "Throughout his career he initiated and let us develop projects and actions and today we have a dynamic, lively region, full of strong, competent people, trained in this so precious freedom of action" indicated Marie Moretto, the new regional delegate of the mutual aid association.

Before joining Cimade, this native of Vaucluse had worked in journalism at Ina in Paris but it was in Montpellier, a city that ;he loved it, that he set down his suitcases, contributing in particular to the creation of the musical bar Le Bec de Jazz. Music was one of his passions, like writing and he had just presented his first novel at the last Comédie du livre.

His civil funeral will be celebrated this Tuesday, June 4 at 1:30 p.m. at the Grammont funeral center.
