“There is no age to think about your heart” reminds the Heart and Health club in Bagnols, at Parcours du coeur

Despite the rain, Sunday April 28, for the Parcours du cœur, health professionals were present at the Cèze bowling alley in Bagnols-sur-Cèze.

The French cardiology federation and the Cœur Santé club in Bagnols were unlucky with the weather this Sunday. The rain cooled down many participants for the traditional hikes offered as part of the Parcours du coeur. In the indoor bowling alley, those responsible for the prevention stands had made the trip. A dietitian, an adapted sports coach and a cardiologist accompanied the members of the French cardiology federation. Their common goal ? Give visitors the keys to having a healthy heart.

"The heart is a muscle that needs to be worked"

"Unfortunately, I believe that people don't worry too much about the health of their hearts, glisse Jean-Louis Laffitte , hiking leader at the Heart and Health Club of Bagnols. We start to change certain lifestyles when we encounter a heart problem." An observation shared by Cristina Favre, cardiologist at the Bagnols-sur-Cèze hospital. "Young people are not easy to raise awareness… They don't really feel concerned, she explains. But there is no age to think about your heart. As we often remind you, it’s a muscle that needs to be worked."

Good habits should be adopted as early as possible. First of all, practice regular physical activity. "Whatever our age or physical condition, we can practice sport. You just have to simply adapt it", explains Myriam Bouillé, member of the French cardiology federation.

At least 30 minutes of sport two to three times a week

Walking, cycling, swimming… Cristina Favre advises endurance sports. "At least 30 minutes and two to three times a week. Tobacco is one of the main causes of cardiovascular problems. Weaning is recommended. But it’s also important to pay attention to your diet, your weight and stress!"

The latter is also one of the main causes of heart problems. "The third cause which until now was relatively unknown is sleep apnea, slips Cristina Favre. You should not hesitate to consult when you realize that you are suffering from it."

The next meeting of the Heart and Health Club of Bagnols will take place on Tuesday, May 28 at the media library. On the program, sports activities and conferences as part of the international day of action for women's health.
