World No.1 Novak Djokovic returned to train on Saturday wearing, as a joke, a bicycle helmet the day after the bad blow he received on the head from a clumsy spectator on Friday during the Masters 1000 tournament in Rome.

"Today I came prepared", wrote on his social networks " Djoko" in the caption of a video showing him arriving at the Foro Italico site with his head protected by a bicycle helmet over a white cap.

In this twenty-second video, the Serbian, all smiles, then signs autographs to spectators held back by barriers. He trained normally after this remarkable entry, without ever taking off a red cap which hid the gash on his head.

During the night from Friday to Saturday, he published a first message to reassure him about his state of health and confirm that he would be able to play his 3rd round match on Sunday.< em> "Thank you for your messages of concern for me. It was an accident and I'm fine, I'm resting at the hotel with an ice pack (on my head), he wrote in a message published during the night from Friday to Saturday.

A wound on the top of the head

At the end of his entry into the Roman tournament, an easily won match against the French Corentin Moutet 6-3, 6-1, Djokovic, 36, was the victim of & rsquo;an unusual accident.

While he was signing autographs for spectators in the stands above him, he received a water bottle on the head that fell from the backpack of one of these spectators .

Under the violence of the shock, he fell to the ground, remained prostrate for long seconds, before regaining his senses and walking back to the locker room. The organizers of the Masters 1000 in Rome then indicated that Djokovic had an injury to the top of his head which required the use of surgical glue, but clarified that he had not been transported to a hospital.
