Will Clermont-l’Hérault become Clermont du Salagou ?

L’information officielle a été publiée ce lundi matin sur la page Facebook de la Ville de Clermont-l’Hérault.

Clermont-l’Hérault could change its name and become Clermont du Salagou. The information, official and important, was published this Monday morning on the Facebook page of the city of Clermont.

A mysterious publication

According to the publication, the decree has been issued and the name change could take place "from September 1". On this public holiday, it was not possible for us to contact the town hall to obtain more information on such an unusual subject. A publication that is much more surprising than, until now, any information or element on a possible ongoing reflection on the subject had until now -there filtered.

No bank on the Hérault River

On social networks where the publication is shared, the reactions of Internet users seem to be moving towards a possible “April Fool's joke”. But in reality such a change of name would not be totally unfounded, far from it. Because if the capital of Clermontais is indeed on the banks of the Salagou, crossed by the Lergue (in the Ceyras sector) and crossed in its center by the  Ronel, it does not, however, have any bank on the Hérault river which passes notably in Canet.

The Radiance of the Lake

Another element which could argue in favor of a change of name: the influence of Lac du Salagou, known and popular with hundreds of thousands of holidaymakers from all over France , and known well beyond the country's borders, could have an impact on the City of Clermont. By associating its name with that of the Red Lake, Clermont could benefit from a nice spotlight, a tremendous tourist spotlight while the Salagou Lake is on the way to joining the very tight club of Grands sites de France . So will the town of Clermont be renamed at the end of summer ? The information could be denied, or not in the coming days… To be continued.
