The British sovereign Charles III is suffering from cancer, the royal family announced on Monday February 5, 2024. The monarch then suspended his public activities. He will be able to resume them next week.

He was admitted, Friday February 2, 2024, to The London Clinic hospital, in London, for a prostate operation. The royal family had informed on Monday February 5 that King Charles III was suffering from cancer, without specifying its nature.

The diagnosis was made during this operation, according to Buckingham Palace. Doctors then advised the king to suspend his public activities.

Since then, the king has followed "a program of regular treatments" in order to combat the disease, according to Buckingham Palace. He "continued to take care of the affairs of the State" despite his care.

Doctors "satisfied with progress"

"The King remains entirely positive about his treatment and looks forward to being able to resume his public duties as soon as possible", had informed Buckingham in a previous press release.

That day has come. On Friday April 26, 2024, Buckingham Palace announced that his "His Majesty the King will shortly resume his public activities following a period of treatment and recovery following of his cancer diagnosis.

Next public release on April 30

The nature of the king's cancer has still not been revealed and details on his state of health are few. A palace spokesperson, quoted in particular by BFM, emphasizes that "its treatment program will continue, but the doctors are sufficiently satisfied with the progress made so far so that the king is now able to resume a certain number of public commitments.

Next Tuesday, April 30, Charles III will visit, with his wife Camilla, a cancer center.
