The Roquette district is getting a makeover. This Wednesday, March 20, 2024, Michel Calvo, President of ACM Habitat and Deputy Mayor of Montpellier delegated to the Fraternal and Solidarity City, and Pierre Soujol, Mayor of Lunel and President of Lunel Agglo, inaugurated a new street workout space on the ACM Habitat residence "La Roquette" in Lunel. This time will also have allowed elected officials, tenants, and those present to participate in the activities around "Mon Appart Éco" and the shared garden project of the residence.

This new equipment is the latest step as part of the more global urban renewal plan for the La Roquette district and its ACM Habitat residence (550 housing units spread over 4 residences).

Ensuring the neighborhood is open to the city

The Npnru plans in particular at La Roquette: to ensure an opening of the district to the city, to preserve the landscape framework, to redevelop the common areas of the residence (re-vegetation. ..), to reinvest the stairwell by closing the double entrances, renovating the common areas, installing access control, closing the cellars…

As part of these developments, a playground and video surveillance cameras had already been inaugurated in April 2023. The Lunel sector, which currently accommodates 5 employees from the nearby ACM Habitat, was also completely refurbished to improve the working environment for employees.

A new street workout space and a shared garden project

The street workout area inaugurated this Wednesday is dedicated to the outdoor practice of physical and sporting exercises (amount of 30,000 euros). It has several apparatus: vertical net, ladder, push up bars and pull-up bars. The work was carried out within the framework of the Multi-year Agreement for the Lunel Urban Renewal Project and more precisely in consultation with the citizen council.

These new installations respond to a request from local residents and contribute to the requalification of the exterior spaces of the residence. The developments in the area will be finalized as part of the road works in the second quarter of 2024.

200,000 euros invested in 2 years

Since 2022, almost 200,000 euros have been invested in the surroundings of this residence. The next stage of its transformation will be the creation of shared gardens within the residence itself with delivery scheduled for the end of April.

Lunel, a key stage of My Traveling Eco Apartment

For all operations around Mon Appart Eco, Altémed’s objective is to support tenants in adopting virtuous actions for the environment and reducing their energy consumption. "My itinerant Eco Appart" is a mobile and light variation, designed with a dynamic "going towards" and whose schedule provides for deployment in 9 different neighborhoods.

All eco-friendly actions are covered (water, ventilation, electricity, gas, waste) through various workshops also offered by our partners: The palaver tree, the little resourceful people, the CLCV, AP34, CPTS Lunel, Plié, Le Passe Muraille, le petitrendez-vous, Arts et Cultures and Lunel Agglo. "My traveling Eco Apartment" will end on March 31, 2024.
