Legislative elections 2024, 1st constituency of Gard: Isabelle Leclerc (Workers' Struggle) campaigning on “the path of struggles”

Isabelle Leclerc, who had collected 0.92% of the votes under the Lutte Ouvrière label in 2022, is returning to the campaign trail for her legislative elections in the first constituency of Gard on June 30 and June 7. July.

What do you think are the main issues in these legislative elections ?

We have managed to be present throughout France with Lutte Ouvrière which highlights men and women from the world of work. Our purchasing power is plummeting, we can no longer fill our shopping cart or take our car because it costs too much. It’s not normal to have 1 000 € for his retirement. Salaries must be indexed to prices to live with dignity. We demand the cancellation of the unemployment insurance reform and the pension reform. We are in favor of retirement at 60 with 37 and a half years of contributions. There have been so many pension reforms! We should receive 2,000 euros. minimum wages until we die.

The extreme left is very present in the New Popular Front. Why Lutte Ouvrière did not join this union?

We don't say the same thing. Lutte Ouvrière believes that to obtain what you want you need a fierce struggle. All the parties that make up this New Popular Front have promised mountains and wonders in the past. This union of the left has already existed and as soon as it was in power, it betrayed the world of work by governing like the right.

We hear a lot of criticism from you about capitalism, less about the extreme right. Do you consider, like other parties, that France is in real danger?

The extreme right is at the gates of power so we are in danger because it attacks immigrant workers. These ideas are taken up by the right. The extreme right weakens and divides a little more. She is on the side of big business which accumulates fortunes. Jordan Bardella does not represent the workers' camp since he has never worked.

What message do you send to abstentionists who believe that politics will no longer solve their problems ?

We must take the path of struggle, overthrow this capitalist society otherwise it will change nothing. We must also travel to express through voting our entire opposition to this social organization. It's about our lives. Workers’ struggle calls for conscience.
