Nîmes town hall strengthens security in and around the André-Malraux social center

Après l’annonce de la réouverture du centre social André-Malraux au Chemin-Bas d’Avignon, la mairie annonce un renforcement de la sécurité.

In a press release, Jean-Paul Fournier, the mayor of Nîmes, after going to Chemin-Bas this Thursday morning, said he was satisfied to see the socio-cultural center of Chemin-Bas reopen its doors. For the record, municipal agents had exercised their right to withdraw on March 20, terrified by the tension reigning in the neighborhood and worried for their lives.

In the press release, the City says it is concerned about the safety of agents, families and users using the center. This is how the town hall takes the following measures to strengthen security in and around municipal equipment. With the strengthening of links between the site's "Intrusion alarm" device and the municipal police ; the installation of emergency alert buttons and video protection cameras on several points identified as being sensitive; the increase in the frequency of municipal police patrols in the center and the issuance of a municipal decree prohibiting gatherings in the immediate vicinity of the center.

Measures which will be supported by actions of the national police around the center against deal points in the neighborhood but also by more frequent contacts with municipal agents to facilitate rapid interventions if necessary, in complementarity with the municipal police.
