After Burger King, Five Guys, McDonald's and Popeyes, here comes Dairy Queen. The American fast food chain is currently organizing its arrival in France. It could make a difference when ordering, but not necessarily when it comes to burgers. We'll explain.

You found the choice Cornelian when you wanted burgers, between Five Guys, Burger King, McDonald's, Popeyes… The American range will however (again) expand by welcoming Dairy Queen. According to information obtained by BFM Business, the company owned by billionaire Warren Buffett's investment company wants to take a big bite out of the juicy French market, whose ogre-like appetite for piles of minced steaks and cheddar is well-known. Let's remember that the French will have swallowed around 1.5 billion burgers in 2023 and that gourmets are still waiting for the opening of the first Wendy's restaurant, whose arrival was announced last year.

Between 100 and 200 restaurants should open in France

Dairy Queen is thinking big. According to Nicolas Boudet, international general manager, between 100 and 200 restaurants should open in the country of gastronomy by 2026 or 2027. Everything is to be done since the American brand – better known by the abbreviation DQ – is looking for a partner to set up a franchise model. Considering France as a “strategic market”, Dairy Queen intends to reach an agreement with a group considered to be “experienced”. It must be said that the American fast food restaurant, which was founded in 1940, has already tried to make itself known in Europe in the past, particularly in Italy, Slovenia and Poland.

So, how can the American company that owns 7,500 restaurants worldwide make a difference in the already very competitive French burger market? ? No doubt by treading on the toes of other American giants that do not only satisfy small appetites at mealtimes. Clearly, Dairy Queen's trump card would be to serve its customers throughout the day.

Because one of its flagship products is ice cream, or rather Blizzard, a kind of airy ice cream that is whipped beforehand. It can also melt with a peanut, chocolate or Oreo cake flavor. Rather than going to Starbucks, Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donut, French consumers could choose to refresh their taste buds. As for burgers, Dairy Queen does not serve anything emblematic except a cheeseburger or a bacon burger with a barbecue and honey sauce and another homemade sauce, this one secret.
